Want to try a Luger

Dear friends,

It's been my dream for a long time to shoot a Luger. Unfortunately, I cannot get one where I live (firearms are illegal in my country), but I'll be visiting the US in July and really want to make my dream come true. Can someone tell me if it is possible to rent/borrow a Luger somewhere in the cities I'll be visiting: San Francisco, Portland (OR) and New York?

Thank you very much.

If you stop in Illinois, I can help ya out.

Forget about New York, State If you dont' have a state pistol permit you aren't even supposed to handle or drool on them, NYC is even worse as far as permits go.

Enjoy your stay stateside.

There is a nice store south of San Francisco that carries a lot of older guns. It is like waking into a museum that you can touch. Not any ranges that rent Lugers but there maybe some one that will meet up with you. Keep in contact I maybe in the area.

Unfortunately, I cannot visit Illinois this time, but I'll keep this in mind for my future visits. Thank you!

Could you, please, give me the address of the store or some other info I could use to locate it?

I'll be in Santa Clara from Jul 17 to 23, and in SF from 24 to 26. It would be great to meet up, thanks a lot!

I don't believe there is any commercial shooting range which rents Lugers. This would be impractical, because Lugers are cantankerous, fussy, subject to breakage and malfunction frequently. To shoot a Luger reliably you either have to be expert in the ways of Lugers, or just darned lucky. Keep trying to hook up with a private party to help you in your goal.

Audrey..Shooting a Luger loaned by a Member here might not be that difficult if you can hook up with one in San Francisco or Portland.

By the way..what country DO you come from?

Here in Colorado I step out of my workshop to the pistol range right here and blaze away. Fact is I am waiting for a Friend, Randy Crump to come up so we can shoot Reichrevolvers.

I will be in Alaska during most of your stay in the SF area.

Lugers are in such short supply in Russia?

zinfull 06-16-2011 10:56 PM

Yeah they sold them to us.
