I just received my new Mauser Parabellum 4" 9mm, P-08 frame yesterday. It has German marking for safe and loaded indicators. It is a very nice piece. I can't wait to take it to the range.

Nice pistol. Around 1974-1975, well after the termination of the first Interarms contract, Mauser found they had quite a number of unsellable 9mm pistols in stock, some were already proofed in Ulm, others were unfinished and others could be assembled from available parts.

So they made Interarms a good offer, selling them at a discount. The entire lot, which consisted of a batch of new and refurbished Euro-pistols, was a lot of 3000 pistols in total.

That is why this pistol has the 'Gesichert' marking, combined with the FBM proof.

I took the pistol to the range yesterday. I used the Mauser magazine, an unmarked satin nickel one and 2 Mec Gars that I had bought for my Vopo.

I ran around 65 rounds through it. The pistol functioned very well. One time the hold open was a little frisky; it held the toggle open after the seventh shot, must have been recoil-generated. Another time a new round failed to close all the way. The spring in the Mauser marked magazine was a lot stiffer and thus it was harder to load.

The pistol was dead-on balls accurate. I find it hard to sight because I use bifocals but with some patience it was possible to place shots within the center of the target. It is just difficult to sight against a black target. I am considering marking the sights with something to make sighting easier, but which could be removed.

I am impressed with the workmanship of the pistol, on taking it apart; everything fits as it should and is very tight.

I frequently paint my front sight blades with DayGlo orange paint. It shows up well and does come off, all by itself, over time.
Sometimes a 6 oclock hold helps, and our local shooting range has orange faced targets, which also help.
Have fun!
