Hello, new to this forum. Glad to find it. Im fascinated with the Luger and its heritage/history. I hope to learn much here.

I picked up what I believe is a commercial issue. Its been restored. All matched including the grips. Flaws include a missing lanyard ring and tiny chip by right grip screw.
Magazine does not match and no holster. Did score though on some Swiss like brand new 1926 for 25.00 ea.! SN #6998 9mm/P

What might be a value range?

These are the only pics I have but can readily post more. I am Austrian and am very interested in ww1 and ww2 post and prewar as well as commercial production of lugers and other weapons.

Being Austrian, it is hard to say what a value would be for a restored gun, here in america, $600-$900, all depending on the buyer. Most collectors want an original not restored piece, however, some want a very nice looking piece or shooter, so it all depends on what the person is looking for.

The Luger is numbered in the military style and has what looks like military acceptance stamps and proofs on the right receiver (hard to tell from the photos). Why do you think it is a commercial?

Not 100% its commercial. Thx MFC, Ill takes some detailed pics to post. The proofs on the rt side. Any particular other pic that would help? Ed, so true about theres the right gun to fit someone. I new I couldnt lose. I got it for 625.00.

I assume from the title of the thread that it has the date 1915 on the chamber. That and the miliitary acceptances and Imperial proof on the right side of the receiver make it a military-contract pistol. Welcome to the forum.

The best book IMO is Jan Still's Central Powers Pistols. It has wonderful photos and a wealth of information.

The Japanese acquired a large number of foreign arms when they overran the countries they occupied. Presumably, the Chinese commander had a captured weapon. It's not my area of expertise; others here can answer that question more fully. :)
