Post-war Mauser Parabellum. Looks like a reject that was rescued from the scrap heap after something went wrong during the 59th machining step (give or take).
Nice :) Here is one with only 3 steps done: |

I couldn't quite figure out the thin cut in the inside rail area of Roadkill's pic...It doesn't really make any sense... Neither of these look like how the 'original' Lugers were machined...and that's only my guess from looking at the tool marks on mine... ;) |
scrape heap!
Hi Rich, ya it does! That's the last, and probably wrong, cut made prior to the toss...... maybe it was ill fitting in a fixture or clamp of some type... got the boot! .. ;).....Best to you, til...lat'r...GT

They are Mauser's interpretation of the Swiss 06/29 machine steps. Mauser adapted the steps to their own machines. The cut along the receiver rail is the one that went wrong. According to the specifications the top of the frame should have gotten milled out. After that the magazine opening would have been drilled through.

frame forging..
You would think with todays alloys and automated casting processes, they could cast a 95% to 98% near net completed P.08 frame.. I really don't see the need for a forged starting blank, unless cheaper?? ...:jumper:....Toss up probably, CNC's getting to be old school now... best to all, til...lat'r...GT

nooo Post...you switched the pic on me! I can swear there was a Borchardt frame there when you first posted!
