Ralphs
I took many of these off of his wall and looked them over :) Seriously, as long as we were careful, he let me look at anything on his wall, and I looked at many. Here are more pictures; |
Anything he didn't have......

Just a observation
With the passing of Ralph Shattuck and the availability of his truly massive collection of lugers, that you would see the price of lugers come down. Thats how it would work in a perfect supply and demand environment. I haven't noticed that as of yet. Prices are still stable and if anything are going up. Since this weekend is the big RIA auction and they acquired the bulk of his collection,it will be interesting to see their auction results. Bob |

Always been curious how Mr. Shattuck got his money....his collection had to be worth well north of a million dollars....rich family?

Yes, he just acquired over the years. He told me more than once as he had 10 lugers in front of him (and he had come with 6 and they were gone and sold), he told me; Ed, buy lugers for five years from now; in other words, always have a supply for later.

Now that was a dedicated collector. I wonder how many years it took him to amass such a huge collection. I would love to have checked out his lugers in person. Don't have to touch. Just gaze at each as if in a museum.
