Luger Doc....(Tom Heller)

A couple of months ago....I sent my 1918 DWM Luger to Luger Doc to have some work done on it....also to have the 4" barrel swapped out for a 6" barrel......and after talking to him on the phone.....found him to be one of the most honest ...fair..trustworthy persons I have ever dealt with....he advised me my luger needed some internal work as well....and I gave him Carte Blanche to fix anything he thought should be fixed.......after a short while...he sent it back to me...along with a free pistol carrier.......however I had a problem with it firing FMJ ammo....it would fire hollow points but not the FMJ.....I contacted Tom.....and he profusely apologized for any problems and said to send it back and he would correct the problem at no cost to me.........very shortly thereafter.....I received my 1918 DWM back...it not only fired Beautifully...but Tom also sent me a box of ammo.....and found me an Interarms Mauser Box to go with my Interarms Mauser I had recently purchased.......I read the Forum and see complaints about some repair service......and just want to say that Tom Heller..is THE MAN....!!!...I cannot reccomend him highly enough.......and Im sure that if I come upon another Luger that needs some work.....it will be sent to him with no worry.......so....Im voting for Luger Doc......thats just my $0.02 .......Thanks for reading my long note........Hans Fischer....

I Agree!

Hi Hans and all! I agree whole heartedly on your assessment on Tom Heller, Lugerdoc qualities... When I first started collecting Lugers and P.38's over 30 years ago... Tom was a solid lugerdoc even way back then! And, he and Orv Reichert were my very first two phone calls for informantion !!! I would venture he has forgotten more about Lugers then most will ever know... and with all the other firearms types that have went across his table..... He is a walking axis pistol dictionary.. ;).... I have some exclusive components I send to Tom, I hope to have more in the future, God willing... Best to you Tom, well deserved kudos... best to all, til...lat'r...GT:jumper:

I don't know Tom and I haven't needed his services yet, but from what I've read here ever since I've been on the forum, I would not hesitate to trust him with anything.

An earned good reputation is a valuable thing!

I'll just add Tom is a stand up guy. He has helped me on many occasions. :)

Too bad there aren't more guys like Tom Heller out there. The shooting world would be better off with more Tom Hellers.

Bought a couple of lugers from him, all exactly as advertised. He used to live and work locally here on the San Francisco Peninsula. Our loss is obviously the St. Louis area's gain!

I agree totally. The gentleman recently spent some of his very valuable time helping me to diagnose a problem and instructing me on how to fix it myself. Not very often do you find people who are more interested in helping you out than in taking your money.

Regards,
Doug

You guys left out polite and instructive... :p

...But we really need to take up a collection and get Tom a digital camera... :D

This is valuable information to me, as I am not familiar with this gentleman. With the response here on this thread, I will most certainly register his name under "Luger smith that can be trusted". I am having a few problems with my Luger, and may have to let him apply his majic.
