New Mauser 42
 

I just picked this up the other day. It is a refinished 1940 Mauser. It has been re-blued and the side plate, though matching numbers, has a different "font".

In all the price was right and it shoot well.

Beautiful pistol. Re-blued or not, it is still a Luger.

That was my feelings when I bought it. I had paid $365 for it at an estate sale and the grips and mags. were worth that to me. The mags. do not match but one is WaA 37 marked and the other is a new Mauser. There was also a hard shell holster with it and I will post those photos in the holster section. The mag number is 5374 and it was the spare (2 at the top).


I am willing to trade the WaA mag to anyone that can prove they have the matching Luger.

I can not dismiss it as having been reblued with the photos you have provided. What is the number on the inside of the side plate?

When plastic grips are original on a 1940 Mauser, shouldn't they be of the brown Krieghoff type?

Seeing the "white" pin on the toggle, I'd like to see more pictures before I agree that it has been reblued. And some good pictures of the side plate #'s, please.

The "scallop" at the front of the receiver and the last stamp look pretty buffed.....

what's the number on your se/37 mag? Please be 1376c, oh please.

The whole gun is pretty much buffed but it is really noticeable on the barrel and the side plate. the side plate looks to have been sanded down and re-stamped. Also the #1 on the side plate is different than all others.

Aaron as to the grips I have no idea. They look have the look and feel of the same type of material as my P-38 grips and I'm fairly certain that they are not VoPo grips.

Either Way you can't buy much of a shooting pistol even new such as a Glock or a XD for 365.00 and to add a holster. IMO a score. I'd rather target shoot a Luger Than a new pistol anyway.

The 122, E/37 mag tube has been modified to accept an earlier style bottom. The tube should be cut straight across the bottom and the aluminum bottom pinned in the middle if the knobs.

$ 365, Hey, great deal. Take a look around here. Some mags go for a lot more than that.
Buffed and re-blued, for less than $400 , who cares? Ha, I will give you $500 for it.

The nickle plated 'Mauser' marked magazine is interesting. These were used for some of the commemorative Mauser pistols in the 1970s and 80s.

The pistol looks like a Frankonia refurb to me. These are well executed and very reliable.

I would almost sell it for that but it is a new toy and it is in Germany.
