Old box of 7.65 Luger ammo
3 Attachment(s)
I'm planning on buying a 1902 Luger carbine, and I came across this near mint box of 7.65 Luger ammo, which I assume is of the corrosive type, so I bought it to go on display with the carbine. The reflections in the photos are caused by the cellophane wrapping on the box. Anyway, one side panel on the box distinctly says that the cartridges are not adapted to the carbine. What gives?

It means that the powder charge in these cartridges are loaded for use in the Parabellum pistol.....carbine cartidges were loaded with a heavier charge to insure function with the increased mass of the forearm and barrel of the carbine. This ammo would be safe (in it's day - dont shoot it now! too valuable!) in the carbine, but might not cycle the action.

Aaron,
I collect 30 cal Luger ammunition..if you decide to rid yourself of this I would like to have the chance of taking it off your hands. Thanks |
Aaron, A really fine box! I love old ammo boxes..Rarely see them in this good condition.

Steve, I will sell the box for what I paid for it ($60), as it won't fit in with a Luger carbine. If you want it, e-mail me at neveragain18@sbcglobal.net

Does it say the velocity on the box anywhere?
|
The box is sold. However, it made no reference to velocity, and did not claim to be non-corrosive.
