Luger Help?????

Hey Everyone, a friend of mine has offered to sell me one of his Luger's (he has two) and I could use some help on which is the better investment/buy. Below is the information that I am working with at the moment. Any help would be appreciated.

1. The first one is a Luger byf 41, that I am positive is a Russian Capture, because it is in near mint condition and appears to have been re-blued. Also on the bottom of the barrel there is a importers stamp. 800.00

2. The other one is a 1918 Erfurt, which is in fair condition considering the age of the gone. I am almost positive that it all matches, but will have to examine it more. The only thing wrong with the pictures is that it need an ejector. It will not kick out the shot brass. He is asking 550.00 for it.

Thanks everyone

Neither one is a collector's piece.

The byf is a shooter because it was reblued and the Erfurt is a shooter because the ejector needs replacement, which will render it non matching.

If you want a shooter I would go with the byf.

Achtung!!! The ejector is a spring and is not numbered...therefore replacement would not render it non matching.:) If there is little or no pitting on the Erfurt (and it hasn't been refinished) I would go with it.. $550 is a pretty good price for a shootable Luger and even better if it might be collectable.

$550 is a pretty good price for an Erfurt, period!

Ejectors are easy to replace. Tom H. , Lugerdoc on this forum, may have the piece you need.

You'll probably have to PM him...His webtv mailbox gets filled up and it takes him forever to empty it...

I only got two Erfurts these days, but the ejectors are Erfurt proofed as were others I have owned.
Dead center on the outside.

Mike is right. Erfurt ejectors, and only Erfurt ejectors, are Imperial inspection marked. Regards
