Info on American Eagle Lugers
 

I have the chance to buy a couple of American Eagle Lugers in 7.65mm from the estate of a collector who has passed away for a really good price. Are the any recent reproductions of this that I should lookout for? If so what should I look for? Thank you for any help.

yes, read the posts here already, i.e. the commercial database by Dwight will tell you correct sn range; then look at pictures and you'll know if they are new or old.

How are they marked?

what are their serial numbers?

I am not sure of the markings yet but the numbers are 90xx

Mauser, Aimco, Stoeger, and Mitchell Arms made American Eagle Lugers in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. They are all marked with the company name/logo.
#90xx falls into the M1900 commercial serial# range. All M1900's are 7.65mm. Do they have dished toggle knobs, as apposed to the later flat knobs? Clear closeup pictures of the markings would help us help you.

Where are the markings located?

All over the gun. Receiver, above and below chamber, barrel, front of frame, top and bottom sides of toggles, bottom edge of takedown lever and sideplate, and a few on some internal parts, trigger, grips, grip safety, breechblock.

Is that the company logo or serial no.?

Logo is on the top of the toggle. If it's a M1900 with dished toggle knobs, it will be a DWM logo. Serial numbers and proofs are on the other parts I mentioned. Interarms Mauser American Eagles, made in the 70's have the Mauser logo on the top of the toggle also. Some of the other more recently made Lugers are marked differently with the company name/logo on the side of the frame or receiver.
