Labeling
3 Attachment(s)
Recently I started used the 'Bore Store' sleeves to store pistols. They take up less room than the zippered gun cases. BUT there was no way to label them. They're too dark for a Sharpie, and sticky labels fail after a few weeks.
I asked a Young Lady, who does a lot of needle work for any suggestions. Would machine embroidery work? She didn't think so as they have to stretch out the fabric to do it. (sigh) Then she opined, the iron on patch material might work. I had some of that so..... IT WORKS!!! I cut the pieces 2' X 1/2" and iron them on 2 1/4" aboce the edge. Now I can stack things and find them easily. |

I use Round Key Tags with split rings that can be purchased at any office supply store. They come in white and various colors and I color code them to the type of gun stored so they are easily identified. The split rings go through the BoreStor fabric at the flap or the toe so I can stack guns alternately to save space and still see the identification tag. Works really well. I also have seen other collectors use Duct Tape and write on it with a sharpie. The duct tape sticks to anything well and is flexible so it stays on. Again some collectors use various colored duct tape for easy identification of type of gun. Personally never tried it but I've bought a couple of guns from guys using this method and the tape is still on the BoreStores. John |
LOL Thanks, Rich.
John! That's a good idea too. FN |
I've been using the "Gun Socks" that are silicone impregnated from vendors like Midway USA.
They have a small loop sewn in at the base of the sock that has about a half inch of inner clearance. By making a 2 line label using a Brother "P-Touch" label maker, and printing the information twice (their PC software makes this easy), slipping it through the loop and folding it over to stick the label to itself, I end up with a small indelible easily read label. I'll post some pictures when I can take them... Marc |
