No followers to be had???
 

Hi To all! 89 views on my, "search for followers post", and not even one stray follower followed me home?? ;).... So, I am probably going to have to figure they are like the Bullwinkle and Rocky cartoon, where they were searching for the last know world supply of "Upseedaisyem!" ... or something equally hard to find!... At anyrate, if any of you fellow collector /shooter guys come across a veterans stash of, "All he brought back was P.08 magazine followers!" Than I'm your huckleberry! Remember, Lowest prices paid! And, lose a'little on every sale, make it up in volume!":D... Best to all, til...lat'r....GT

Hi Rich, earier I had posted a "semi annual begging attempt!" ...;)....for P.08 mag followers with a brief discription of why i need them... But, I think I've used up all the fun.. :(.....Forum members have been great in sending me their cast off parts from their P.08 magazine parts stashes.. But I may have come to the well once too often as it would seem recently to be dry! But even with that, a very sincere thanks to all the members who have helped me out on my mag repair efforts! GT... sounds like you need to make a production run of followers! Knowing your skills and craftsmanship, you will probably improve on the German design... :)

I was looking at one of my Mec-Gar mag followers with a magnifying glass, and I can see a casting line on the rear 'lip'...

An easy way to tell Mec-Gar's from real mags... ;)

I need to make a follower for my Beretta 951 mag (they're about .100" wider than P-08)...haven't decided yet how to machine the rounded nose...but I do have these two 3/16" radius cutters, I think one of them will work...The rest is all flat surfaces...

In making mag bottoms, I've found it easier to use the radius cutter that cuts half the dia. at one time, as stability is a real issue with my limited equipment, and you can sneek up on your target overall width... But that being said, the MEC-GAR followers are probably some form of MIM molded part, where'as the originals were both sintered steel, and machined... Lot'sa ways to go... just need to get the cost per part under control... That would mean machining... Casting is pretty much too expensive, but it's really nice to avoid a gazillion machine operations...:eek:.... BTW, The best follower outt'a all of them... is the late Mauser ones normally found in the code "122" and "fxo" mags.... cold drawn formed and then machined and heat treated!!!!...;).... til...lat'r....GT

As much as I hate plastic parts, injection molding would also be an option. Plastic works great in AR15 and M16 magazines and I am sure many other types of weapons magazines.

GT, I have accumulated a few more originals since our last trade. let me know how many more you need. TH
