Hi Doug, Welcome to the forum. A tool like this one. Collectors call the inspection stamp DE/6 (Droop Eagle/63). Regards, Norm.

Luger loading tool
I am a little new to this, could you tell me why, what the marks stand for, etc.
I am going to a show this weekend with the best chance to find one that is correct. Thanks, Doug |
Take a look at the FAQ, won't help a lot, but some.
The marks are inspection markings, accepting it into military service, there are droop wing 63 and straight wing 63, as Norm said, a droop wing 63 would be most correct. I always go by what is on the right of the gun, i.e. droop wing, straight wing, eagle 63, eagle 655, eagle 6, etc, although that is only a general guide. A detailed guide on loading tools is in the works by a good friend or two and I need it, I have a heck of a time. You see many standard, unmarked DWM's that have been stamped with fake markings. ed |

Can you show me a close up of the DE/63 mark ?

Doug, If you didn't find one at the show, I have them available. TH

Thanks for your help, now I see what you are talking about. I am looking for a tool and spare mag to purchase, my chance for finding one locally is slim to none. Just for reference, there are two for sale on e-bay..., are they good ? Again, just for reference. If you have one available and a good to period spare mag, let me know. My luger is sn# 2470 ALL parts match #70 S/42 Magazine is 1988 aluminum base and an eagle/63 Doug |

Hi Doug, Your gun's serial number most likely is followed by a suffix letter, visible on the front of the frame below the serial number, like the one shown. Military Lugers were numbered in blocks of 10,000, each one, except the first, followed by a suffix letter. To find a matching magazine (almost impossible), you need one with the same suffix. Regards, Norm.

Norme Suffix letter is Y, magazine R, no + Doug |
Hi Doug, A DE/63 magazine in the same suffix block as your gun (y suffix) is probably the best you can hope to find. Even that is no easy task. Good luck! Norm.
