Nill Replacement Grips

I have had several clients recently need grips to go with their restorations, some had VOPO grips or other cheap plastic or really bad grips they did not want to keep. I sugguest first checking with Lugerdoc or Hugh Clark for them, Hugh can usually supply checkered or smooth grips or specially made checkered ones with a smooth border like some of the very early commercial Lugers had. A current supply of Nill Walnut grips is MacTec http://mactec-militaryarms.com/
Factory authorized dealer / importer of KN Nill Grips
These are the very best replacement walnut grips IMO.

Simpsons LTD has some nice looking checkered walnut replacement grip panels for $100.00. I think they said they were made by a supplier in Germany (not Nill). I have ordered and received smooth walnut Luger grip panels from Nill and custom (expensive) 1911A1 grip panels from Nill and I must say they are outstanding. Only problem is the shipping cost from Germany will give you wallet trauma.

Hi:

I also have been watching those grips from Simpson's, but haven't been lucky enough to actually handle a pair. Has anyone out there actually purchased a set?

I agree that the NIL grips fit the Luger beautifully, but the checkering is too coarse. One would think that they could get this little detail down just right, and certainly for the price they are charging.

Sieger,

You can order the smooth ones and send to me for checkering the correct way, but then that makes them VERY expensive! However, they are still the best reproductions available.:D
