Hey guys, Love the forum.

Just bought my first real Luger on gunbroker. Late 1970's Mauser (Interarms) 9mm, 6"barrel Navy model. Mint shape safe queen, BRAND NEW IN THE BOX, never been fired with all accessories, packaging, paperwork, and factory test target for $1100.

Originally bought a Stoeger 22 cal luger new back in 1973 for $78.00 but it got stolen in 1979. (stll have the original box, loading tool, paperwork, receipt, and spare mag) It was a great little shooter. Recently bought another one to take it's place also with box, paperwork, loader, and even leather holster. It's also a great, accurate pistol.

I'll post some pics when I get back home from this road trip in Chicago.

Yeah, it was a 7 day relisting because of a previous deadbeat bidder. Minimum bid was $999.99. Someone put in the minimum bid 3 hours before the end (hope it wasn't anyone here on the forum), so I clicked on the 'Buy it Now' price of $1,100 to nail it down. The seller notified me that it shipped today Fedex 2nd day. I plan to be home Saturday to pick it up from my FFL. Here is the GB listing with the sellers pics.

I got the same Parabellum, NIB about two years ago and turned it into my primary luger shooter. GREAT. First thing I found though, was that over the years the sights were way off. Corrected that, then I didn't like the grips. Seems like, they went to a very sharp trapezoidal shape after the war. I like the rounded oval as in the DWM grips. Hugh, our Forum 'Grip Master' corrected those for me.

Once you get shooting the 6" you're spoiled for the 4" barrel.

It's not actually a 'navy', it's a 6" and the only reason is that they couldn't get the 4" going at first :)

Judging from the serial number it was made at around 1973, can't read enough of the number to be more specific. The pistol still has the Swiss style frame, which was being phased out in late 1972, early 1973. Nice to see it still has all whistles and bells with it. Keep it safe and complete :)

Well guys, I picked up the gun Saturday and it is a beauty. Looks to be in mint shape. The serial # is 11.010323. (can I get a manufacturing date?)

The only flaw is some faint action marks on the rear frame (maybe from the factory test firing or just working the toggle action??) Several letters in the 'Made In Germany' stamp are slightly misaligned.

To me, the toggle action and grip safety seem to take a lot of force to actuate. Is this normal or does it just need a little lube job since it has been sitting in a safe for 35 years??

Also, the manual says the 'Safe' and 'Loaded' markings are in English while they are actually in German.

Overall, I am a VERY happy camper.:thumbup:

Nice! Yeah, an good cleaning and wipe down are needed. You may find some old brown grease in there.

Will do. A thorough cleaning and oiling is scheduled for this weekend after I return Saturday from another work trip in Hobbs, New Mexico (I'm a professional traveler) before going to San Francisco on Monday. I'll check for any hidden engraved numbers when I take it down.

In addition to my previous description, my gun has the standard US export 'FBM' proofs on the top of the barrel and above the take-down lever. Both mags are stamped with the 'Mauser' logo on the flat side. The test target has no date on it.

2 questions.

Is my safety lever backwards from normal Luger pistols??

This may sound stupid, but how is the loading tool used to load the magazines?? The manual doesn't say and I don't want to do it wrong and risk damaging something.

Safety lever: Mine is. Like they were copying a 1906 Navy, first var.

Put the tool over the follower knob, screw driver blade end up. The ridges on the mag fit into the grooves on the tool. Now you can hold the mag with one hand and the thumb goes on the little plate that sticks out. Pul down and load.

For softer less irating grips, I have in stock black plastic repro M29 Swiss grips that will work @$35/set + $3 S&H. TH

If you plan to shoot it, clean out the breech block and inside of the firing pin. Also under the extractor.

I think I found a holster on GB. It's a vintage RedHead model 1204 DB 6" (not Interarms) Slightly used, brown leather. I'll let you guys know if it fits.
