Whose Catalog Is This???
 

Browsing eBay for...something...and I noticed several (like a dozen or so) sellers hawking individual pages of an old catalog...I saved the 'enlarge' image because it showed the relative size & shapes of Old Style Luger parts vs New Style...

...then I noticed the "America's Great Gun House" and "Everything In Guns Under One Cover"...with Lugers on page 359 (!)...

So...What catalog is this from???

The oldest Numrich catalog I have is #10, from sometime in the 70's...and this is not from Numrich... :p

It might be a Bannerman catalogue.

"Everything In Guns Under One Cover" sounds like Stoeger.

If you reverse the image, you can make out a very faint 'Stoeger' and 'N.Y.' on the other page.

At the bottom you can read 'YOU FIND WHAT YOU WANT AT STOEGER's'.

Alanint was correct, too - Cornell Pubs lists several digitally enhanced reprints of old Stoeger catalogs...Fairly cheap...512 pages in the 1939 World's Fair special edition reprint...$32.95...I think I may order one... ;)

Stoeger was or is the exclusive owner of the name "Luger", if I remember correctly. Is that still the case, is Stoeger an active company?

From Cornell's website, it looks like Stoeger now belongs to Beretta:

"Stoeger: A History of Affordable Quality Firearms"

At that time, Stoeger Industries was placed under the ownership of Benelli USA, where it remains today as a member of the Benelli USA family of companies. The technology and expertise of Benelli USA are integral to Stoeger's manufacturing processes. And all Stoeger products enjoy a solid reputation for affordable quality."


In the USA, a registered trademark can be owned and used forever:

"Unlike other forms of intellectual property (e.g., patents and copyrights) a registered trademark can, theoretically, last forever. So long as a trademark's use is continuous a trademark holder may keep the mark registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by filing Section 8 Affidavit(s) of Continuous Use as well as Section 9 Applications for renewal, as required."

The key is that the trademark must be used in trade continuously, and it's registration must be affirmed every 5 years.

But.... has the trademark "Luger" been used associated with a firearm by Stoeger or it's owners within the last 5 years?

They continue to affirm their registration per the USPTO record Gerban found...

I wonder when we'll be able to buy a new one??????
