Hey guys...Ive set up this weekend in my town at a local Gun Show....I sell Primarily Post War German Military and some WW2 Reproductions..and some Originals.......have done this for over 40+ years.////.Anyway...at every show have always had at least 8 or 10...or 12 people say the same thing to me...."Ive got one just like that at home...my dad brought back from the WW2"....and of course they 1.dont want to sell it...2..want a free appraisal..or 3..dont know where it is...Ive heard this for years....but today had a guy stop by my table...and we talked for quite awhile...turns out he collects civil war era items.....but he got to talking about his next door neighbor....who he had lived beside for over 20 years...(his neighbor was in his fifties)......and his neighbor was a big WW2 German Military Collector...especially Flags...and daggers.....SO...his wife caught him with his 22 year old secretary....and a bitter divorce ensued....after couple months..and much money...they divorced..she got the house...and he went back over to get his things......in the course of packing up his clothes ...books...guns...etc...etc....he couldnt find any of his German Collection.......so when he asked his now ..Ex-Wife...where his German Collection of Flags...Daggers...Medals...Patches.....were....she said....."Why dont you check the burn barrel in the back yard..!....I burnt it all...!!!".......Anyway.....so when you are having a bad day.....just remember to ignore the little 22 year olds....and remove any burn barrels from your back yard...and be sure to take "momma" some flowers and candy every now and then.......in over 40 years of hearing "stories" at Gun Shows and Military Shows.....this one was the strangest I have ever heard........and really ....couldnt think of hardly anything to say to the guy that told me this......except the shock of something like that happening.......by the way....I took the wife out to dinner tonite...!!!.....:(

It sounds like the former wife needs to spend some time in jail for the crime she committed against her former husband.

After that, he needs to take her back to court and have the court adjust whatever financial settlement they had for the fair market value of his property she distroyed.

I agree with Sieger. Her actions are claim-worthy.

On divorce stories...I am also active in the Corvette Forum community (I have an 86 convertible). One online friend's ex-wife got his cherished C4 Vette in the settlement, and sold it for $5 just to spite him... :(

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE

(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a woman can
make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before
deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say
you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she
says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at
all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome'. That will bring on a 'whatever').

(8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying "Go to hell." (edited)


(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning
this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is
now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?'
For the woman's response refer to #3.

* Send this to the men you know, to warn them about arguments they can avoid
if they remember the terminology.

* Send this to all the women you know to give them a good laugh, cause they
know it's true!!!

"I'll try to do better next time" translated as probably not :)

Sad story about the corvette but it reminds me of the old adage about the key to a successful marriage.

When the wife says something wrong..... say nothing.

But at least it was intact...One girl/woman bought an original C4 ZR1 from an eBay seller and it was delivered by transporter...One of those big girder-ramps tractor-trailer rigs...Last car off...Driver didn't pin the ramps when he backed the Vette off...Of course, the ramps slipped...One went through the floor... :eek:

I followed the thread for awhile...the transport company [bonded, I assume] agreed to pay to have the ZR1 repaired...Still a heartbreaking experience...the car you've always dreamed of, aluminum 32 valve DOHC V-8, the right color, convertible, in pristine condition...Tens of thousands of dollars...Smashed within sight of your garage... :crying:

You never get used to that.

Five years ago some scum broke into my workshop, stole some parts, a Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC and then decided to scratch the paint on my show condition 500 SEL, taking care to scratch the paint on the hood, the roof, the trunk lid and both sides. Needless to say, when I ever meet that guy, the skin of his private parts will be used to upholster the gear shift lever of the 500 SEL.

Yeah Vlim I hear ya, I don't get why these aholes have to do vandilism on top of the stealing. Guess they couldn't stand leaving it alone if they couldnt steal it.

Scum like that has the attitude:

A lot of vets I have know over the years have had similar experiences with medals, pictures and paperwork over the years.
Vindictive "others" take particular glee in going after that stuff.

As we tend to say: "When it was raining brains, most had umbrellas...". :)
