Another new guy with an old Luger
Good evening,
My dad recently gave me a P-08 that he's had for about 30 years. He got it from a WW2 vet that was a friend of his back in the 80s. I always loved it since I am a WW2 buff, and we put a few rounds through it back then when he got it. As far as I can tell, it is all original, matching numbered parts except for a single new spring that he had to put in it when he first got it. I think it was a trigger spring. The magazine doesn't match though. I have taken some pics of the markings and I was hoping that the experts here could give me some more info on what I have. I'd like to do some research and find out more about it, but there are so many variants and such that I wanted to start here. Thanks, James http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01586s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01590s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01587s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01589s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01588s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01596s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01591s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01613s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01614s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01615s.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14.../DSC01616s.jpg |
You have a WW1 era, 1917 DWM luger that in 1920 received a 1920 property stamping (not a date stamp) and then was in military service until brought back.
It has a replacement barrel, as it was likely an artillery luger originally, see cut out for sight at top above date numbers) It has a WW2 magazine base, show us the base and sides and we can give you some separate info in it. Welcome to the forum, ed |
