Tell me about this Luger
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=216034484
Is the price fair? Looks like a re-blue, but no big deal for a shooter. I know the parts do not match either. Any input from you fine knowledgable Luger folks is welcomed. |
Bead blasted and parkerized frame..reblued hard buffed top cannon..mismatched..but it shoots well according to the seller. If I was going to spend 900 anyway I would throw another 300 at the project and get a matched pistol I could shoot AND be proud of. There would be no problems when you wanted to sell either.Go down to your local gun store...you can buy a mighty fine top of the line modern gun off the shelf for a lot less than 900. Granted it's not a bead blasted reblued mismatched Luger but .... I would think this pistol should be 500 or so.
I collect and love WW1 era Lugers but they have a major fault as shooters and that's the extractor. The hook that holds it into the bolt well pin is small and well...weak. These were beefed up considerably on the Mauser pistols and rightfully so. I would keep looking. |

I just purchased a shooter exactly like the one shown with the same stampings! I did a little research and thanks to a few forum members I found out it's a post war Austrian arsenal refurbish, probably for the police forces. Not bead blasted or parkerized but is machined (sanded) down and the bluing is very dark.
Ironic that I see one exactly the same. Bob |
