The V block Lugers
Am I right to assume that nearly all contract Lugers were produced in the V block no matter what year they were manufactured ?

The short answer is, no. Not clear what you are really asking, here.

Thank you Dwight, the reason I asked this question , because if my observations are correct I noticed that most contract Lugers serial numbers have the V suffix, so I thought that Mauser left the V suffix for Lugers that are for export ( contract ).:o

Alf, To make things more confusing Mauser also make military lugers in a separate "v" block. Their contract Mauser Banner lugers did start in the "flowing V" block with the Portugese GNR lugers, but you'll find contract, police & commerical Mauser lugers in the v thru Z blocks. Best reference is still Constanzo. TH

The new book The Mauser Parabellum 1930-1946 by Don Hallock & Joop van de Kant has a very thorough discussion of the v-block Lugers.
