Here are photos of a 41-42 Luger that recently came from a Veterans Estate.....interestingly the "n" suffix is upside down on the mags(factory error?)......also attached are photos from a "n" block 1940-42 Luger which I believe was made in the same period as the 41-42

Outstanding!!

Hi Peter,
Those are beautiful, I have seen a correct side plate with the the # up-side-down. So this error does not surprise me.
Cheers,
Jason

Foreign-speaking forced laborers, perhaps???

Any comments on the font being different from the gun and mags?

Hi Peter, I think you're right about the upside down n's on the mags, but the font of the n's on the guns, as alanint pointed out, is puzzling. It looks almost as if a modified h die was used (see photo). Regards, Norm

I find that strange!!.....I have always thought that the suffix on the gun was struck with the same die as the one used on the mags.....yet,both Lugers show a different font on the gun vs the mag?....

It's difficult to tell from a photo, but the alinement of the numeric digits on the frame appear to be a bit off. TH

Very nice, Peter!

In 1941 the n on the frame is a different font from the n on the magazines. There was a discussion about this here on the forum last Sept but I can't seem to be able to post a link to it.

The letter on the gun looks more like a "p"

The code 42 on the toggle appears to have been sanded or buffed and is not blued in the same manner as the rest of the gun. Seems to be plum colored. Just my 2 cents Old Blue

I believe the guns are righteous. Both the wire brushed finish and plum coloration are typical of Mausers from this period. Regards, Norm.

Could be my poor eyesight or the small photo but the front toggle link on the 41-42 looks like #65 instead of #63.

The bottom of the mags do not appear to be a perfect radius?
