Tight Sight Pin
 

Dear Friends,

I bought an artillery Luger that has a misaligned rear sight that I'm exploring for possible realignment, but in trying to disassemble it I find that the pin that the sight hinges on for elevation is quite snug and I've been unable to tap it out with a brass punch.

What's the best (safest) way to do that without damage or causing possible further misalignment? To start, it appears that the pin is to be punched out from the left side.

I was wondering if there is a threaded tool that could press it out.

Hi Jack, Welcome to the forum. Are you aware that Artillery sights are supposed to move to the left as they ramp up? Also, all Luger pins drive out from right to left. Regards, Norm

No.

What's the purpose of that? It doesn't seem to make sense.

Hi Jack, I replied on the other forum, but for everyone"s benefit, here's the link. The Artillery Luger was originally intended for long range shooting, and the leftward movement of the leaf sight is intended to compensate for the rightward drift of a clockwise rotating bullet. Regards, Norm.

I usually remove most luger pins from left to right but it shouldn't matter which side you choose. The esential is to have the correct sized pin punch, and perhaps it's time to use the steel punch that is sometimes included with cased sets. I have these available @$25 + $3 S&H. TH
