I am not any kind of expert...but...It looks like an excellent example; bluing looks original, all edges nice & sharp...Bolt lock abutment looks to be in good shape; no abuse (i.e: no Tokarev ammo)...Grips look good...Overall general condition is very desirable...

I have two Brooms right now, and have owned one other...I paid ~$850 for each of my examples, in less desirable condition than this one...In today's prices, I'd say this is worth $1500 & up...to the right buyer...

I'm sorry, it looks like junk to me. I'll give you $50.00 for it.....Just kidding.

I think you have a fine specimen. Even if it has been reblued (don't know, just saying), I see very little rust issues and your correct, the edges do look sharp with milling marks quite visible.

Not mentioned is numbers matching, barrel condition or magazine spring condition.

To the "right" collector, I can see $1,500.00 maybe a bit more. If your going to sell it, put it on Gunbroker with reserve and see what it brings.

No pics of proofs or serial; if there was a serial, we could pin down the year...My C96 has the 1000 on the opposite side of the sight leaf...

Looks like a nice pre-WWI Standard Commercial Broomhandle.
Those run from serial numbers around 40000 to 2800000 (when the now called Wartime Commercial was introduced).

The chamber is long, so it's a late prewar small ring with 6 rifling, but not too late because the sight leaf still has 900.

If the plan is putting this one away in safe without shooting, I would prefer an instance with matching stock (not hard to find, but asking price is higher). If shooting occasionally, this one is good. Just an opinion.

A lot of folks get confused and then post their pictures to the album, nothing wrong with this, just another step to check out their pictures.

I much prefer them posting there than on photobucket and the like....

Sol Banda's C96 Mauser was in the Random Album Pictures today, but the album is closed/locked now...But when he was asking for help, I linked his pics...

It's a nice looking Broomhandle...I wish he'd stayed and commented on it... :(

Are the stripper clips correct? They look like Steyr M1912 clips. The Steyr clips won't fit a C96 properly.

I can't say; I do have Mauser stripper clips, but for many years I used M16 stripper clips...

I never thought of M16 stripper clips. May I assume they are about the right width and fit in far enough to hold the bolt open?
