Question....to my fellow luger junkies
 

To save my matching 1940 42 rig, http://www.thespeedtriple.com/Forums...default/bs.gif (really I'm just a new Luger junkie now.....more, more, more) I have a newly acquired 1915 DWM shooter that I have a few questions about. This is what I know so far about the pistol. Original finish, s/n match 80% or so. The barrel, receiver, trigger bar, and magazine appear to be matching # 4395. The other parts that are s/n appear to be # 4754.

1.) One of the first things I noticed was the R/H grip doesn't sit well on the frame. It appears to be warped some, and I'm wondering the best, if any way to fix this and get it to sit down better. If it is not worth risking damaged to original grips, I do have a set of Sarco grips that I was going to fit, and store the original away for a rainy day.

2.) The next thing I noticed was the lack of a rear sight on the aft toggle link. What gives? I have never seen this before and I wonder is this normal.

3.) Still being new to Luger, I'm intrested in learing as much as possible. I just purchased " The Mauser Parabellum 1930-1946" and can't tell you how great a book it is. Unfortunately is doesn't really cover this 1915 DWM, but I'm always looking for a good deal on one of Jan C. Still's early book to add to the book collection. That being said......What else intresting can you tell me about this 1915 DWM? Value, rarity, date of production, issued to ???, etc?

The rear toggle is one from an Artillery Luger. Those have a different rear sight set up with the rear sight on the back of the Barrel so they didnt need the toggle sight. Check with Lugerdoc (Tom Heller) to replace yours. The grips just might need proper seating, take the grip screws out and the mag out and see if you can get them to seat better.

Thanks Thor. I feel like I should've known that. I have tried to seat the grip. On a flat surface you can see that its not truely flat. It is warped ever so slightly. I would like to find a proper rear toggle, thanks for the reference. Paging Tom Heller.......

Aptech, I do have several nice rear toggle links with rear sight available in the $50 to $75 range. You may have to do a bit of filing to the inside of your grip ribs, to get to lay flat on the frame. TH
