1939 Mauser Banner commercial question

Today I ran across what I think is a Commercial Mauser Luger. It is dated 1939 on the frame and is all numbers matching including 2 magazines. It appears to have the original wood grips and is in around 70% condition. The serial number is 8150 if I remember correctly. There is some type of marking under the serial number that looks sort of like a cursive u. Would this gun most likely be a Mauser Banner Police? It does have a safety and no straw parts. I can buy this gun for $850 which I think is a very good deal. Thanks for any help I can get.

Are you sure about the serial no? There should be a small Eagle mark on the front right frame. Eagle/K or Eagle/F

E/K 7284v-8056v
E/F 8989v-9690v

There should be an eagle stamped on the front of the front sight base too.

Compare with my album. Albums pg 6, '1942 Banner Police'.

After some internet research I now think this is a Banner Luger and NOT a police Luger. It does NOT have a sear safety. Is this a rare Luger?

Between 1936-1942 there were at least 10 variations of Mauser commercial lugers. We can't tell you much without good detailed pictures of the piece and all markings on it.

Is a commerical type usually worth more than a military Luger?

Bravastar:

Welcome. The value depends on the total # manufactured, # surviving and demand. Would need pictures and clear serial # to valuate. The commercial version should have a Crown+U stamp on the receiver. If the gun is all matching as well as not rebarrelled or refinished, I think $850 is a great price for pretty much any variant.
