My 1936 Mauser S/42
I kinda jumped the "gun" on this. These pics aren't the greatest, but stupidly long hours at work plus short days mean I had to snap these indoors under a desk lamp. I plan to do a better shoot in the future but as a new collector I'm really anxious to get your evaluation/comments.
Please note that the proof marks on the receiver side do have halos but they didn't show up in the photo. From my (novice) perspective, this appears to be an "honest" gun; I haven't found any indication that it has been messed with. I'm hoping I'm correct. I did buy it from Simpson and their reputation appears to be pretty good. I'd be grateful for any interpretations of the various markings on the gun. All numbers match, except the magazine. http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=1486 http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=1485 http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=1487 http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=1481 http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=1483 http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=1482 http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=1488 http://forum.lugerforum.com/picture....pictureid=1484 |
Jim,
Thanks for posting photos. The acceptance stamps and firing proof on the right side of the receiver should not have halos. They were stamped before the gun was blued. The stamps look correct to me in your photos. |
Nice one Jimmy. Congrats.
