Sounds like a Nazi Navy rework of a Imperial Army Artillery Luger.

Pictures of the rig would really help.

I have owned several of these.

I will post pictures, if I can make the deal. Is there any reference book that covers these reworks? I was not able to find in Jan Still's Imperial or Third Reich luger books I have. Also, will there be WWI & WWII inspector marks because its a rework?

Hi Michael, Artilleries that were reworked for the Weimar Navy are discussed in Jan C. Still's Weimar Lugers, and one is pictured. They come up for auction every once in a while (see link). They should have all the Imperial markings and, most likely, have 1920 stamped on the chamber. Regards, Norm

Norm I thank you, this piece has 1017 on chamber, complete rig, 100% match even mag... hope to make a deal soon. The one on the link you sent sold for 2300, being a rig and a rework, I hope to offer 3500... sounds fare to you?.. PS what page is that in Jan's book? Thanks again Mike

Hi Mike, The illustration in Jan's book is Fig. 25, on page 93. I thought the Navy Artillery that sold for $2,300.00 at Greg Martin Auctions was a particular bargain. Regards, Norm

That would make it a very early Artillery Luger...perhaps the first one... :D

Maybe it says 1917??? That would be more reasonable... :p
