That Old 45 in Thor's range report

Just received my 1911 45 back from Ted. Boy he really did it this time. I sent him a pistol that went through WW1, was rebuilt and parkerized then went through WW2.I got it from the GI who brought it back from the war and it looked like it went through hell. Ted took this gun which was well worn and pitted like and old blacktop driveway and made it in to a museum piece. I can't believe the quality of the work this man turns out.He is a extremely skilled craftsmen who deserves repect. Thanks Ted

PS It ejects fine for me, no trouble. Must have been the ammo.

I'm pretty sure I warned everybody last year after you did my BYF 42 that they better get in line fast if they wanted any work done by Ted. See, I told you. The word IS out.

Ted Your right, It doesn't eject now

Ted your right about your evaluation of my 1911.

Ejected OK the first time. Went back to try again and it jams every time. I'll figure it out. It's got to be something simple.

I had the same problem some years ago. It turned out to be caused by the ammo. I was using Korean PMC brand .45ACP on which the overall cartridge length was longer than on USGI .45ACP. I don't recall which gun was having the problem, maybe a Reising 50.

Thor:

There is a drawing of the USGI.45ACP cartridge in "Know Your .45 Auto Pistols" by Hoffschmidt that shows the overall length to be 1.265 inch.
