Mec Gar Magazine Luger

I purchased a Mec Gar Italy made Mag for my DWM 30 cal and they sent the P08 9mm mag. Will this work???? It looks exactly like the original and took ammo and I hand ejected and it locked on the last round.........?????? Any input would be great!!!

There is absolutely no difference between a 30 cal and a 9mm Luger magazine, both cartridges use the same magazine.

Slight correction: Mauser original contracted a Dutch firm to make it's mags for the Parabellum. When these were no longer available, Interarms ordered replacement spares from MecGar, marked Interarms on the spine. TH

If you get a chance, take a look/compare the two cartridges. The aft 2/3's are the same. Now you understand where the 9mm came from.

Strangely, Mauser did have different part numbers for it's 7.65P & 9mmP mags. When I purchased all of Interarms remaining Parabellum parts. I received a few slips of Mauser logo paper showing the caliber & part number of the mag enclosed with it. I have not studied these mags enough to see if there is any difference in the length of the feed lips, but if there is, the effect is negligable. TH

Tom, we also found some traces of this in the Mauser archives.

I think the main reason for distinguishing between the 9mm and the .30 luger versions of (essentially the same) magazine was to avoid discussions with certain countries where 9mm as a bullet, and also the magazines are prohibited. When you mark them as .30 luger magazines, they suddenly stop being 9mm magazines officially :D

Gerben,
I remember you stating that the spring tension was different for .30 Luger and 9mm mags. The discussion was about the 'Cal. 9mm' marked wooden bottom mags. Did the use of different tension mag springs continue throughout Luger production?

Furthermore, unlike their Dutch predecessors, MecGar magazines will work in the Mauser Parabellum and other Luger variants.

Hi:

I agree that the spring tension seems lighter in the 7.65 mags.
