Officer issues
I have an S/42 G date that my father said he took from a surrendering General. I have historical data that puts my fathers unit in the right place at the right time to support this but I wanted to know if records are avail to show what serial #s were issued to specific officers. Any info would be appreciated
Thanks |
In a word, No. I haven't heard of German records being discovered to this point.
Your father probably was issued "Bring Back Papers" by his command chain. Check in his records if you still have them. They would have had the S/N on them. Then also add to the provenance and value of the Luger. Ed Tinker on this forum collects "Bring Back Stories" if you can relate yours to him... Marc |
story
My father never really liked to talk about the war but hes been gone for three years now and I'd very much like to pass on what of his story I can. I never found any capture papers in his things, just the story he told me.
