Bore Diameter of 30 Cal DWM / 1925
I just purchased a 1925 DWM 30 Cal luger and have not slugged the barrel. I learned that it was a 1925 on this site by the serial #. What is the normal bore diameter of a mid 20's DWM???? My first post shows Pic's. I am going to buy bullets and shot a lot of cast lead in my 45's and 9mm and would like to do the same for this 30 Cal. Just bought a new magazine and dies to use. Any info would be great, Thanks!!! I want to get the cast at least .001 over the bore diameter.

The bullet is 7.65mm. I'm not sure about the bore.

.310 cast should be about right....maybe .311..I think groove dia on .30 luger is .309-.3095

I agree with you completely. By the way, the original 7.65 Parabellum round, as loaded by DWM, had a .307 diameter bullet! This was a shock to me, but I measured two bullets. Sieger |
Slugging barrel
I've never slugged a barrel. I read that the bore should .309 to .3095. In the Lyman manual it shows to slug from the front of the barrel. What is the best way to slug??? I read of getting fishing weights close to barrel size. What do you pro's use??? I do have a set of digital calipers for measure. I need to know the easiest place to find pure lead around that size and what you use to push down the barrel.....Thanks!!!! Probably a wood dowl??? or use the cleaning rod........ your wisdom is needed.

I believe that Brownells gunsmith supply sells a product just for slugging the barrel but the name escapes me at the moment. Call them in the morning. They do have a tech staff that can help you if need be.

I've used a .311-.312 soft cast bullets to slug several .30 Lugers. I clamp the barrel in a vise padded with leather, oil the bullet and tap it through from the chamber end with a dowel or an old section of an aluminum .22 cleaning rod. Never had a problem.
