42-42 Luger
 

In “The Mauser Parabellum 1930-1946” book Page 261, there is a photo of a 42-42 Luger #8385d, a variation that I never met in any of my books.
Is this one time Luger or there were more of this variation? In page 260 of the same book there is the CV (Collector Variations ) of the 42-byf lugers, but the 42-42 Luger is not mentioned. :confused: Thanks.

My guess is that it is a "One-Time" or perhaps "Few-Time" Luger. It seems to me that the difference between a/an (for lack of a better term) "Odd-Ball" Luger(s) and a "Variation" is how many were made as far as we can tell. 41-42s are a variation because there were around 7000 produced. Yet there are a handful of S/42 41 Ku proofed pistols around and I don't recall them recognized as a "Variation". I'm sure other factors enter in also that qualifies a "Variation" from an "Oops", but on number produced alone ... I've not heard anything specific. Great question !!
