HELP! 1916 DWM 1945 Rework?

I will post pictures as soon as I can but I am stumped. I recently purchased a 1916 DWM Luger SN#69** with all matching numbers, it is german military stamped. The problem I am having is that the upper receiver is slightly engraved and marked Suhl, Germany on the left side with the safety, and 1945 on the right. I have been researching all I can and have come up empty handed and have not found any other Lugers with this style of scroll work or reworked in Suhl. I wanted to throw this problem out there and get peoples minds churning and will post pictures as soon as I can.

Just a guess... it could have been added by the GI that liberated it.

Yes, I have seen engraved names, dates, etcon pistols, rifles, etc and it is almost always (always) the GI as a remembrance.

its different than a GI rework, man I wish my camera worked...it looks more along the lines of a factory done piece. I read somewhere that the Suhl factory reworked military weapons for the allies until it was turned over to the soviets right before the cold war...anyone know anything about that?
