Thanks Ted, I really appreciate that! As I know that you're state of the Art, and I do mean Art! I hate to bother you with the piddly stuff. I'm really happy to hear from you, I'll send them out today!! Thanks, Thanks!! And, now for the GOOD news.... after 40 years in the corporate work force... I'M FREE!!!! ... GOT FIRED! .Thank God...:jumper:.... I will now be working on Luger like Projects full time, (which with my current health, is like quarter time..), and hopefully will, in the near future, have enough projects going to help support all my vendors, and outside sources... I still have a fertile mind.. And now, dreams can become projects... Best to all, reborn at 57, til...lat'r...GT:cheers:

GT, I love your positive attitude. Keep up the good works and all will work out. You and Thor might make a good team, since you're both perfectionist, compared to me. Best wishes, Tom
|
GT, I would be honored to do this for you! You have done so much for us as has Tom, John D, John S, Dok, Jerry B, Hugh, etc
We are first and foremost friends and everytime I look at that beautiful plumb colored Mauser bayonet you gave me and all those beautiful perfect wood magazine bottoms you have made I am reminded of this. |
Gerald, congratulations! I made my move when I was 53 after 31 years with the same company.
It was a good decision, and I've never regretted it! Project prime is now "you"!!! Go for it! Marc |
Thanks!
Thanks Marc, Ted & Tom..I really do feel free... I went out ugly but well.. I stood up tall for a good guy, woudn't budge.. bang Ger, your gone!!!!.. Your first thought is, Holy Crap!:eek::eek: ..Then, Oh well....Amazing how much stuff you can fit into a desk drawer...... How you can get three boxes of crap to carry out... I guess I'll never know..
I have always really liked the support this forum has given me, and others like me.. Everyone seems to be quite a bit alike?? And all have lived a bit outside the reach of a safety net... So, Onward and upward... Well, for awhile, at least onward..... Best to all, til...lat'r...GT |
Good luck G.T.!

GT,
:cheers:Good luck in your new "position"! You will find that there still isn't enough time to do everything that you want to do! Hugh |
GT, similar stuff happened to me. The Engineering company I worked for had a President that when projects didnt make deadlines he picked on the Engineers saying there was something wrong with our plans, plans that multiple agencies had approved and many time he looked at them before they went out. I was only one of the Engineers that stood up to him and said "What specifically do you have a problem with" and he would just repeat, "your plans are crap" or something to that affect in front of the client. I had a verbal knock down drag out very long session in his office that nobody else had the guts to do. They were gunning for me and when 9/11 happen they used the excuse that they were downsizing to give me the boot! BEST thing that ever happened to me! Look what I am doing now! I just wished I could do the restoration work faster!
When God closes one door, he opens another! |
Hi Ted!
Hi to all, Yes, I knew for years that this was the eventual result of hard work for somebody else.. but I always liked to believe, and will continue to do so.. only this time, it's in myself! Ted, it's really funny, when it all goes down, how you find out who your friends are, and who's got knives in their hands! Never ceases to amaze me... But, I digress, we are definitly going forward! Best to all., til...lat'r.....GT...

GT,
God bless you. You have the right attitude Brother. Make it happen. What you believe will be. An opportunity to spread your wings and soar a flight of Freedom. Only in America. God save us all. |
Good luck, GT. Hope you are able to complete many enjoyable and profitable projects.

I had the opportunity to visit G.T. right after he got canned. It is remarkable how upbeat he remains. In spite of having a long series of health problems and job loss, he retains an indomitable spirit. He can stay focused on the possibilities of the future rather than adopt a “poor me” attitude about the present.
G.T. is a master craftsman and never lowers his standards. Every item he makes is letter perfect. He is a real asset to the Luger collecting community. His chief flaw is that he is generous to a fault. He will give you the shirt off his back. Now that his products will be his primary source of income, it will be necessary to price them according to their true value and sell them, not give them away. Let’s all support this great guy and give him fair payment for his work. |
GT,
The very best of luck my old friend... May this turn out to be the best opportunity you have ever had to make it on your own. You are well equipped (if anyone has ever been in his garage like me, you would know too) to do anything you set your mind to... may God bless you abundantly with new ideas and productive opportunities. |
Dear G.T.
You know, I've noticed a pattern with this whole employment thing. It seems that the best people always get the boot, while the A.K.s and watercooler boys always get ahead!! I'm sure, health permitting, and with a little time, that you will blow those folks away with your performance, but now, the fruits of your labor will be yours to keep!! By the way, I'd love to continue our mainspring project, with Noel, just as soon as you have some time to commit to it. Your magazine spring project seems to be coming to a successful end and just as soon as you have some for sale, I'd like to have you install several for me. All the best to you dear friend, and don't let the bastards get you down!! Sieger |
That's what you learn...
I can tell that most all of you fellows have been down this road before, or, are going down it now .. And here's a little of what I've learned ...
1) Pitsword has it exactly right! We're free! All the time, every minute! This is a great country, we don't ever have to lie down for anyone.. doesn't mean it's safe or easy, or that we'll succeed, or fail... but we are on the same starting line as everyone else.. you never lose til you quit! 2) Rat bastards will get you every time.. as you won't compromise your values or ethics, and they'll change like the wind, they'll ride, posse up, hang or beat people down till they win... simple as that, and generally, where there is big money... The Big Rat bastards aren't too far away...;) 3) Ethics, values, and Principles are expensive, meaning the loss of items, privilages, and monies you have to forgo, to do the right thing... This is an ongoing challenge we battle every day, even within ourselves... My first thoughts every day are "Don't be a hypocrite!" and that is followed by "Live your religion every day!" Meaning, try to help someone, try to enable a family member, fellow worker or friend... That gets me through... 4) People are just ..people.. most are disillusioned, confused and scared, and have little, if any, in life experiences to draw from. So, they succumb to human nature, and try to claw they're way to the top. Most, are guys who really know better, but when the opportunity permits, stab people in the back anyway. It seems to be irresistable... they tell lies, and spin the facts, hurting the only guys who ever helped them. Well, stepping on someone doesn't make you taller...and, what most don't realize, is that the center of the "**** heap" ain't much different from the edge, only things that matters is, keep one eye look'en up, and pray that the wind don't blow! In other words, in the corporate world "Your turns coming!" Bout as simple as it gets... Like I said earlier! I'm Free!!! ... :D Thanks to all you guys for your support and faith, (and listening to my ramblings :))This is actually pretty exciting... Right now, cleaning and orginizing will be the first step on, hopefully, a fun and rewarding journey.. Thanks again and best to all... til...lat'r...GT :jumper::jumper: |

I praticed Labor Law before moving to Florida. I found that most terminations are the result when an employee does so well that their forman or supervisor feel threatened that you are a danger in some perceived way, An employees' duration isn't no more in many instances than longevity or performance. unfortunatly some employers lack the cahonies to stand by productivity and duration. Thus your performance and excellance was your unavoidable downfall. You made someone who couldn't accept your perfection. Truly a no win situation. You needed to live through that experiance to go out one your own. You were kicked out of the old rotting nest for You the realize You can Fly on your own. Don,t look back or You might trip on Your future, Go back to Your Good Book! Like Sodom and Gommara, dont look back or You will trip onver your future! The answers are now clear.

So true!
Hi Cirelaw, I'll bet you've just about seen it all....:eek:.....It's funny how when a group is struggling together, and trying to build from scratch, they're almost inseperable... But, as soon as success is achived, and a little money rolls in... then the egos start to expand, suspicion starts to breed, and sides are taken.... and the Magic soon disappears... I've seen this in the very best of groups! (One of) My favorite movies is Treasure of the Sierra Madra, Bogart does a great job of coming apart on the greed thing... Just like real life!.... I really do love the ironies in life... If you could keep the human element contained, you'd have half a fighting chance... I got complacent, it'll get'cha every time... ;) ... Best to all, til...lat'r....GT
