Inherited a couple nice lugers, looking for a value.
I inherited a small collection of military items and firearms from my father and although I do have a small collection of weapons, I don’t know anything about lugers. I am considering consigning the two lugers through a local gun shop but I feel as though I am truly at the owners mercy as far as knowing what they are worth.
The first is a 30 cal 1921 DWM serial number 9768 that my father purchased in 1968. All the numbers that I can see seem to match. The second is a 9 mm Husqvarna luger that my grandfather purchased in 1959, serial number D10843 with a beautiful black leather holster that also holds cleaning tools. I see everyone saying that value is very dependent on condition, and I don’t have any pictures right now, but they have been stored correctly and seem to be in perfect working condition. Can anyone give me a ball park value? I’ve enjoyed looking through this forum, and I may consider holding onto one of them, or maybe looking into getting a “shooter” if these are too valuable to shoot. I have just been intimidated by the odd workings of them. Up to this point I have been more of a revolver man. Keeping it simple. I hope that doesn’t get me kicked off the forum. Thanks for the input. |
RevolverMan:
The 1921 Luger .30 cal. might bring $750. The second one sounds like a non-Luger miltary pistol, but we'll need to see a bunch of photos. Welcome. dju |
By "1921 Luger" do you mean it has the date 1921 on the chamber? If so, it should be 9mm.

The Husqvarna is probably a Lahti. Referred to years ago as a Swedish Luger.

An exc Swedish Lahti rig with 2 spare mags, loading tool, cleaning rod in exc holster, should sell in the $1K range, and 20 Commerical 7.65 luger in top (98% original finish) matching condition, about the same. TH

Thank you all for the education. The local gun shop sold the "Husky" pretty quickly but I got the DWM back from him after our 60 day contract expired.
I've got some pictures of it in the Classifieds section if you are interested in taking a look at it. I welcome any comments that you might have. |
