Can anyone help me with the unit markings and history of the unit. 35.R.M.G. 60.
Thanks! |
Subject to correction:
35 Machine Gun Company Of a Reserve Infantry Regiment Waffe 60. Alf. |
The markings signify: weapon number 60 of the machine gun company of the 35th Reserve Infantry regiment. TheLuiger is probably dated before 1916 because after that date the regiments had 3 machine gun companies and were designated as such in the unit markings. You can tell it is from a reserve unit due to the cursive R in the unit marking.

I would greatly appreciate knowing year, maker and serial number of the pistol.

This regiment saw action mostly on the eastern front but came back to the Verdun front in 1917.
