Erics' P38 and Holster Question

I found the P38 while moving with this holster. I wonder whether this holster was proper for this gun? Serial #2048p cyq

Hi Eric,
Your P.38 was made around May of '44. Some collectors like to match pistols to holsters produced in the same year. What is the year on your holster? Most hard shell holsters are dated '43 or earlier. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Jason

I agree with the above. You really need to post this on the P.38 forum at www.p38forum.com . They would also advise on this as well.

As a P.38 collector, I must say that the hard shell holster is absolutely okay with the gun-just not "period correct" if you will. Or, let's put it another way: The holster and gun would not have been issued together. More like the soldier would have had the holster already for a while and then was issued the P.38.

That's my judgement :order:

Thank You Both

This is something that really doesn't bother me.
Of course this is a personal position.
For example, I have a nice P.38 byf 44 with a hardshell holster dated '41.
For the other P.38, an ac 44, I bought an unissued '44 softshell holster. Thus I know have the two basic models that were used by Wehrmacht in WWII.

Nice Spreewerk, Eric. Congratulations!

Douglas.

Thank doug

I know your right. Late in the war they were probobly thankful for any holster! Did any of the holsters have the makers name. I also wondered if there was a perio that lugers holster stoped printed the makers name?

Mine has a 'CWW' and a 1943. Could that be correct?

Jason
