1917 Erfurt picked up this weekend
I finally found my first Luger. It is a very clean 1917 Erfurt with all matching numbers and good finish. There is not any pitting or rust that I can find and it seems mechanically sound. It came in a holster that is not correct for the year. The holster is a 1940 rig that is also in pretty good condition and has the tool inside the flap. The pistol came with two magazines and one of them match the numbers on the gun. I was told that it was probably a police issue pistol in the 20's or 30's which is cool since I am in Law enforcement.

Correct you are, the sear safety on the left side suggests police re-issue. The holster could have been issued with it but is not the usual police style. Regardless it is a fine set!
And welcome! dju |
Very nice!

Any markings on the gripstrap?
|
no markings of any kind on the grip strap. I found some of the markings match the tech info section on this site. I plan on a detailed strip and clean and a trip to the range this week. any suggestions from the experts. I also would like to clean the grips like shown here as well.
