color and appearance after strippping?
Dear Experts
What should the color and appearance of bare luger metal be after stripping off the bluing with naval jelly (phosphoric acid)? Should it be dull rather than shiny? Is there a difference in the appearance of the bare metals used in early a 1912 DWM, and in a 1941 Mauser? Thanks, Jeff |
Yes it would be dull/tarnish look.....not sure what a WW2 era would come out, but I bet the same..

SKS, CZ-52, Nagant, Walther P88, S&W Model 10, Browning Hi-Power etc are all stripped dull gray color. I have never seen a gun stripped shiny, unless polishing them with steel wool after stripping.

Thank you!
