Dreyse Pistol question
Does anyone know the difference between a Dreyse model 1908 and a Dreyse model 1909 or is there a difference?
I live in Germany and the collecting rules are tougher than in the states. According to my license I am allowed a 1908. I have seen both advertized but can't tell a difference if any. I am not really sure if there is technically a model 1909. As an American you would not believe how difficult it was to get a collectors license and am affaide of making silly mistakes. Any comments would be appreciated. :D |
Brooks, I'm not sure of the German government's designation of Dryse models, but since the 7.65mm model was intoduced first in 1907, the M1909 maybe the 6.35mm one that came a bit later. By 1914, RM had made a few mechanixal changes to the 7.65 model and intoduced the 9mm military model. Tom

Thanks Tom, I had spoken with a dealer and he had said that mod 1908 or 1909 was the same thing people just called them by different names.
1908 was when the pistole entered German military / police service acording to the dealer. |
