Another Of Erics' Dumb But Poinant Questions For The Founders

How did You wind up with 2 luger sites?? Are they related by marriage? I think You need three!

Ron Smith 05-28-2010 03:50 PM

Eric,

John D has this, the Luger forum, and the P.38 / PP-PPK forum. The other Luger forum is Jan Still's Central Powers Pistol forum hosted by Gun Boards.

How many years have we been Lugering??

jimmythejug 07-12-2010 07:17 PM

I don't know about everyone else, but I enjoy checking out this forum and Jan Still's forum pretty much every day. It appears that many of us belong to both. They're small enough that I can check the "new posts" button every day or two and catch up. Try doing that on thefiringline.com's forums!!

Its Family routine!

The original Lugerforum, which has transitioned through a few different software changes dates all the way back to about 1995...or maybe 1996... There were only about 35-50 members back then, and the software was pretty crude and didn't allow postings to be saved. When they were all shown on one page, and when they scrolled off the bottom, they were gone forever.

Most, but not all of the original members are still members today. We have lost some great and knowledgeable friends since our origin. Our late friend Tom Armstrong, was one of the originals... Bill Munis, Bob Spitzer, Viggo Dereng, and so many more that I can't remember them all... Rest in Peace dear friends.

Others have simply changed their interests (how can that be?) or gone on to other amusements I would imagine...

Today we are over 7700 registered members worldwide, and there simply isn't a finer bunch of collectors and gun enthusiasts on the internet.

In our entire history, there have only been a dozen or so members who were banned for inappropriate behavior or comments. Bogus registrations are discovered quickly and eliminated.

I consider the forum's ban on flaming, and the gentle enforcement by our volunteer moderators should receive just credit for that, especially Ed Tinker.

If you know of a better gun forum on the internet, you will have to point it out to me, because I haven't found one. Our sister forum, the P38forum.com site enjoys a similar reputation.

All who have an interest in Lugers are welcome here, you don't have to own one... just enjoy the beauty, elegance, and engineering of the most famous gun in history...

... and Eric, there simply aren't any dumb questions if you don't know the answer... Thanks for asking. :)

You Gentlemen are truly a 'CLASS ACT'!!!!! I'm proud to be a part!

John,
how about an "in memoriam" section for the former, past away members?

John Sabato 07-14-2010 09:29 AM

What a wonderful idea Andy... Thanks for the suggestion.

A memorial page for our late members... I will definitely have to give that some thought on how to appropriately implement it. Any other suggestions on what or how we should do this would be gratefully accepted and considered.

I added one on Jan's forum, it is easy to do, I actually started it after Tom passed and knew that main gunboards had one. Simple enough to add a new sub forum...

I wasn't thinking of a sub forum Ed, just a memorial web page with photos when they are available... something along the lines of the Rogues Gallery page.

cirelaw 07-14-2010 02:27 PM

Don't devide. You already pulled of 2 fantastic Luger Site. Just add more subcategories!! Its perfect and its hard to beat PERFECT!!!

cirelaw 07-17-2010 06:52 PM

Its been 7 years that I have been part this very special family. Longer than most of my marriages. Thank You all for Your unyielding Friendship and patience. Eric, Esq
