The one with the starburst is a Weimer/Nazi police holster.

Re: luger holsters

Cottbuss 38 and dtu41 are common military P08 holsters (what does M Holster refer to?). The 1916 sounds like a WW1 era military holster with a Weimar-era police takedown tool in the lid--the 4 digit number is usually a police number. GI's after WW2 brought back lugers in an incredible array of differing holsters--you have quite a diverse set.

Dave

The M is under an eagle+swastika. The way I sent the first message was confusing. It is the same mark that is VERY clearly marked on the side of my 1934 Mauser and the holster that came with it, both aquired from a veteran. The Mauser also has an N stamped on the front grip strap and on the bottem of the magazine.

The 1933 luger holster with the 'starburst' mark has S.Ar.I.889 all crossed out by being overstamped with X and under it, is stamped the number 65349. Can you tell me the significance of this?

Re: luger holsters

The Xed out letters and numbers are the police unit marks from the Schutzpoliizei [municipal] for the city of Arnsberg, district #I and the 889 is the weapon's inventory number. Those marks would have also been on the grip strap of the Luger. They were cancelled out when the holster was reissued to another Luger with a 5 diget serial [commercial ?] or inventory number.

Re: luger holsters

The cottobus with the eagle swax M is a Kreigsmarine holster. They are *very* valuable as far as III Reich holsters go.

Hope this helps.

Re: luger holsters

The eagle over M is a Naval property or acceptance stamp and makes the holster a popular collectible. It adds a bunch to the value though it is common to find the navy holsters in rougher condition than other holsters--perhaps due to harsh environmental conditions.

The X'd out numbers often appear on police holsters--perhaps reissued outside the department or with a different luger.

Congratulations on having some interesting luger holsters.
