?s on a 1910 DWM
Hello to all. I have been collecting WW2 Rifles for about 15 years and have now decided to get into the pistols. As luck would have it I was at a local Gun Show this week end and found a DWM 1910 that I could not pass up. It is all matching except the Mag which is a fxo. My questions are.... On the barrel below the ser # there is 8,88, what is that? and the grips look worn and original but there is no Ser# is that common or would they be replacements? Thanks in advance for any information you could provide.

Hi Ed, Welcome to the forum. The numbers below the barrel serial are the bore diameter, land to land, in millimeters. I think you must be mistaken on the 8,88, it's most likely 8,83. The original grips would have been numbered to the gun. Regards, Norm

I was debating on if it was an 8 or a 3, eyes not what they use to be. And on the grips that was what I figured, just wanted to confirm with somone with more knowledge than me. Thanks for the info. Great forum, I see how the addiction can start, already planning what I want next.

Dutchbat, what is the serial number of your 1910? Does it have any unit marks on the front grip strap? Thanks.

The Serial # is 90XXa. It does not have any unit markings on the front grip strap. With the help of a magnifying glass I was able to find a 31 on inside of the the grip pannel, which is not the last two digits. As with all of my old war horses, I wish she could talk! |
