I had just picked up my first Broomhandle today. It is nothing to really brag about but I always wanted one. It is a Frankenstein model, being made from parts of dead C96's.

Everything has a starting point. Back a few years ago, my target was very hamble -- finding one affordable Broomhandle and reline it to usable condition. Simply because I could not find a gunsmith doing that job, I gave up. If I had known Redman or Broomhandle Closet at that time, the path could be totally different today.
===== The owner of Federal Ordnance (a U.S. wholesale importer) passed away a few months ago. He claimed no single source in the world having large surplus of Broomhandles in inventory. This gun scattered around the world very well. |
I like all Mauser C96's...Yours is in better condition that my C96... :)
The grips are not grooved...but have grommets for the screw...Do they have any numbers or symbols on the inner surfaces??? I've seen pics of checkered C96 grips but never plain... The cutter marks on the rear square are quite coarse...Does it have the Mauser script & address on the other side??? How does the abutment behind the bolt lock look??? Nice & straight, or bulged??? I've always been what the English call a "knobbly" kind of guy...I don't like machinery that has been "styled" or "packaged" but rather things that look like what they are...Examples are the Series 1 E-Type 6-cyl engine; the Norton Atlas engine/gearbox/magneto; pretty much any 1980's Harley-Davidson Sportster; the Lister sports car body (usually fitted with either a Jag or Vette engine)...In pistols, the P08, P38, Nambu Type 14...and the Mauser M1896... :thumbup: |

I like all the cars and guns you like!:cheers: Except you forgot my favorite car. A Saab Sonett Here is mine. It is a 1967 Saab Sonett II serial #0000171 The engine is a 850cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke. I have owned it since 1974. Lots of fun to drive!:rockon: Bob |

OK. None of my new toys are really new. I am very open and you've seen all of them in the past if you read posts here. All of them came in 2010.
Had acquired a few others, but those were resold later to raise fund. These four are keepers so far for this year. |

I have burned at least one complete collection on those. Quit twenty times but each time could only last a few days. Will quit.

All it takes is a bit of incentive to quit smoking. I quit cold turkey in the cardiac intensive care unit in 1981. Easy as pie.
