Everybody knows the hardshell pouch for the Luger 08. Here you see a Luger in a holster, only produced for paratroopers. With this holster it was possible - in case of seizure - to do one shoot directly from the hip. Marked on the backside with "P08" and "WaA". Only the holster is for sale, the pistol is for demonstration. The catching sling is in a separate auction. http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=2787465 |

I've seen similar, called "Tropical Hoslters" which dosen't make sense. A Fallschirmjäger holster makes more sense, since everything had a weight consideration.
Not convinced about the "shooting from the hip" part.. |
Would that strap across the toggle prevent the action from cycling? Regards

The toggle can't even work while shooting out of the shown holster. Just another Luger fairy tale... |
Maybe that is why they lost so many paratroopers?? best to all, til...lat'r..GT:)
|
That's why the ad states that ONE shot was possible from the holster, which I believe is accurate.
Whether the story of its issue is true I have no idea. |
And the myth's continue. Bill

Here is a similar "holster" I purchased a few months ago and some period photos.
I sold this thing recently, it was too ugly. |
Christisn's (Laoshi) photo should aswer any questions about the origin of the holster. Neither the fellows in the two photos nor the holster is German.
|
Are they Spanish?
|
Specimen of "ersatz" cheap holsters for some units of the Esercito della Republica di Salò, created by Mussolini after the Armistice of September 1943. I was told that some of these holsters were German made (for the Italian market), but like George I have doubt..
|
Do the Italian issue Lugers have any special markings or characteristics? I wasn't aware that they were issued Lugers.
|
I precise that the markings on the back of the holster are not german. the eagle is not WaA stamp, more probably an Italian eagle.
|
Ron,
Just german Lugers given by German Army to Italian forces, without specific markings, IMHO. |
