Found in the back of the safe
 

Hi Guys-
Thought I would start off my 1st post here with my Interarms Mauser 9mm that's been hanging out in the back of my safe, almost forgotten. It's NIB, with all the stuff that came with it. Been tempted to shoot it; what's the consensus?

That's a very nice Mauser luger you have. Has it ever been fired before? If it never has I guess it has collector status and should be kept as such. If you have shot it a few times then yes, go ahead and shoot a few more rounds through it, it won't hurt. Just remember to clean it and keep it oiled. I shoot a commercial .30 cal Luger on occasion. A good cleaning followed by wd-40 on all the metal surfaces keeps the bluing fresh even though the gun is over 70 yrs old!

Welcome to the forum, I don't know if I would shoot it; they are worth more NIB, but, it would be a nice shooter. I have an American Eagle and one in 6 inches is hard to beat, but I am in the same boat as you, NIB, so haven't wanted to shoot it....

WD-40 is a water displacer and NOT a gun oil. It dries out and a shellack forms that is troublesome. I would use a good oil instead.

Nice gun. I'd keep it as is and not shoot it.

Can't make out the exact serial number but I suppose it's in the 9000 series. That makes it a very late 1972 version, it was probably assembled just before the final transition to the 06/73 model (with P08 style frame and small parts) was introduced.

Does it have an FBM proof?

Interesting left-handed holster for it, too....

All of these Mauser Parabellums were test fired at the factory (note test target), so shooting is OK if you are VERY careful, although there are some collectors, those who like Colt Commerative pistols, that only want one NIB with all acessories. I'm not one of these. TH PS: Have never seen this pattern of left hand luger hoster before. Pretty sure that these were not available from Interarms.

Serial # is 11. 009489. FBM proof mark. The Holster was made by my buddy Vic Perez in Burbank, CA. If you look closely, you'll see an "R Larson, Berlin Germany" inside. The gun has never been in the holster; didn't have the heart to shove it in. I got this pistol from a gunshop in CA several years back that was closing. They had several for $300.00 each and couldn't get rid of them.
