Did I buy the story??
I was busy working a gunshow today when the son of a long gone friend came by my table and let me take a look at a double date that his uncle brought back and had left to him at his passing. He said it was all matching which it appeared to be so I gave him his asking price. When I got it home I got a better look ta the mag:nono: What do yall think. Anyone know right off hand what the unit markings are. Thanks c

Hi, Those are Police markings which I'm sure Don will interpret for you. The mag was force matched at the time of the Police conversion. Altogether a nice, honest, unmessed with, Weimar Police Luger. Regards, Norm

Clint..so I gave him his asking price. Must have been reasonable?
Nice pistol, you have to wonder why people give them up so redily. Jerry Burney |
I was hopeing it might have been force matched at conversion but was not sure if that was even a option. Jerry I gave $900 for it and a nice extra fxo mag which I feel was the worth of it. Am I wrong? thanks c

Hi Clint, I think you did good. That's a very collectible Luger. Regards, Norm

Maybe there are other reasons. |
Clint, I think you did well..Reason I ask..I bumped into a fellow who has a similar pistol. I ask him, how much.... he says he has looked around some on the internet and $5000 sounds reasonable to him. You have to wonder what is in some people's minds.

I think thats where alot of those styrofoam packing peanuts you used to see went:biggulp: Ed thanks for the info. c |
There are no documents in German archives which are describing this or these types of Police marking(s) but I´m sure it means Sächsische Polizei Dresden.

I think you got a great price on this Luger... and the FXO magazine is just gravy! Best magazine ever made for ANY pistol IMHO.
|
Agreed, you did GREAT, that's a stellar piece!

I agree with Klaus, that this is not a Prussian police marking. The Weimar Saxon police guns are usually marked at the bottom of the front grip stap like this one. TH
