Need info on DWM double date
Hi. I'm new here, and need some info. I just picked up a nice 1918/1920 double dated DWM. Everything matches but the mag. The pistol grip part of the frame (below the trigger guard) is stamped (or engraved) "7/.J.R.21.6". I first assumed this was a date with owner's initials - especially since the JR are in script - but on the back of the frame, below the sights and above the lanyard loop the numbers "7.6." stamped. All other stamps and symbols are clearly visible and normal Any info on what the two mentioned stamps might be? Thanks for any help...

I think I've figured this out... This is the 6th weapon issued to the 21st Company of the 7th Jaeger Reserve Infantry Regiment of the Imperial German Army - primarily from the Westphalia region. They combined in 1917 with the Royal Bavarian 29th Infantry Regiment. Sound OK? Can anyone shed any light? Thanks again...

Robert,
Your 1918 Luger is marked to Reichswehr Company 7/ Infantry Regtiment 21 weapon #6, circa 1921-22. The "1920" is the Gov't property mark, which was mandated in that year. "7.6." is the provisional unit mark, indicating 7th Company weapon 6. Ron |
Thanks Ron
