1911 new pics to judge hold-open +

Got it apart, took pictures of inside frame.
Was surprised to see the dull silver finish. I suppose that is what the plating is before any polishing.
Anyway, it appears that there is no provision for a hold-open feature. Do you agree?
Also, I discovered a bunch of new stampings. Do any of them appear to have any significance?
Again, I really appreciate all the help you folks have given me. Hope I haven't bored you with too many details of this piece. Is a treasure to me.
Am interested in your input.
Regards
Reed

Reed,

Appears there are no provision for a hold-open. There would be a slot or groove machined just inside the right rail where the mag head comes up. Also a crosswise slot behind the mag recess.

All those little numbers are staging numbers. What happens when someone is done with a piece. I don't know that anyone has ever cataloged them???

The one on the toggle, (last pic) is a proof mark. Should be the DWM eagle

I think the dull silver finish is unpolished nickel or chrome, whichever.

but the 'Senior Guys' will know more about 1911s.

Reed, for some reason the Bavarian and the Wuertemberger (121 Regiment) Lugers were not turned-in for the modifications in 1913/1914. I don't know that I have ever seen an early Bavarian or Wuertemberger that was modified.

Reed,

Although nickeled, your gun is still a beauty and an interesting piece of history. Here's my 1911 DWM with Bavarian unit marking that also escaped the hold-open modification. Be prepared to spend more money on Lugers - they are contagious!
