Looking at my first Luger, good deal?
 

I found this from a kinda local seller, in his ad he lists it as: "Erma-Werke .380 Caliber Pistol Model KGP68A. Just lowered price and relisted. German made in the 1940's. Excellent condition. Shoots nice. Includes 2 Clips and Leather Holster"

He is asking $450, I was thinking about offering $400 and drive 4 hours to the other end of the state for it.

What do you guys think?

Personally I don't think much of any of the Erma's. This is really not a luger but ,in my opinion a poor rip off with something like a luger action. If your looking for a luger,buy a luger. Bill

These pistols were manufactured between 1964 & 1986. In the standard catalog of firearms they are listed at: Exc. $350 - V.G. $300 & Good at $250.. This pistol KGP-68A was probably made after 1968 when a magazine safety was added.
Save your money.

Lots of bankrupt people in the town he is in, bottom fell out of a little booming oddball town, houses are dirt cheap, and getting cheaper every day. :burnout:

The pistol is a waste of time unless you want a jamamatic .22 made of pot metal. I might make the trip for the holster though! Very cool leather...

I have been pretty lucky so far, even guns that had issues I have been able to work the issues out usually with nothing more than some small fine files, sand paper, and a dremel polishing wheel & sometimes some grinding bits...

If the guy ever emails me back about the gun I may let him know it was NOT made in the 1940's. ;)

There is that non matching luger in the sale forum.. if he comes down a bit more I may pick that one up.

A shooter is all I really want, a nice shooter would be better though... :thumbup:

I bought one of these Erma's quite a few years back that the dealer said was excellent and shot perfectly. Well one out of two may not be bad in some cases. This one looked new, but could not feed one clip without a coupe of jams. I returned to the dealer who insisted it worked perfectly. I said "Show me". At that point he refunded my cash.

I have an Erma EP 752 S , .22 LR
It looks like a Walther PPK and it works great.
I don't know if they still make them, I 've bought it back in the mid-late 80's.

If it's in a local shop, buying one to play is OK.

Four hour driving (one way?) is too much work for this piece.
